FASHION SHOWS: 17-20 APRIL 2024 / TRADE SHOW: 19-21 APRIL 2024 - BARCELONA

Beautiful beyond size

A concept that finally seems to have settled after countless attempts by women to make their voices heard with their request for clothing brands to include more curvy models in their fashion shows and advertising campaigns, and to take into consideration the diversity of shapes, measures, and sizes.

Since 2018 there has been a huge increase in the number of plus size models wanted by Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung and Christian Siriano, who brought Candice Huffine, Yvonne Simone, Marquita Pring and many others to the runways of the Spring/Summer 2020 shows. The Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana (that featured Ashley Graham and Monica Belluci on its shows) continues with a commitment to make more inclusive fashion by introducing garments up to size 54 (the equivalent of the UK 22).

There is a short distance between luxury fashion and bridal fashion, and Ashley Graham (icon of body positivity) has created the line Ashley Graham x Pronovias with sizes from 32 to 66 in collaboration with the leading company in the luxury bridal sector.
Ashley’s refined taste and the technical and creative skills of Alessandra Rinaudo (Chief Artistic Officer of Pronovias) resulted in a surprising collection of 16 garments with a fit suitable for all sizes.

We have already seen curvy models on the catwalk of the last edition of the Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, in a more inclusive industry that seems ready to meet the needs of all women. An increasingly positive and certainly useful revolution in terms of business, confirmed again this year on the catwalks of the next edition.
